Flag Jibe - switch stance

Jibing with flagged wing

With the flag jibe, you can prepare for foiling in waves on flat water. Flagging means guiding the wing with one hand at the leading edge handle. In this neutral position, the wing does not provide any power, but drifts neutrally leeward of the body. You normally do this on a wave when you use its thrust for foiling and carve turns on the front of the wave.

However, this can be practiced on flat water. Simply hold the wing by the front handle and let it drift to leeward, make a turn to leeward and at the end lift the wing again and grab the handles to generate power. Zwanni shows a flag jibe here, which is initiated on a switch (toeside) foiled leg. Carved tightly, like a turn on a wave.
