The backwind jibe is a jibe variation in wing foiling that is performed standing in switch stance with the wing lifted into a backwinded position.
The backwind jibe is a jibe variation in wing foiling that is performed standing in switch stance with the wing lifted into a backwinded position.
A short explanation of the trick: like in a switch stance tack you lift your wing over the head to the windward side. But you do not start turning into the wind, instead you are riding backwinded and start a turn to the downwind side.
When foiling downwind, the power in the wing decreases so that you can easily push the wing tip through the wind to the other side. Now you’re standing on the board in a normal riding position and can easily complete the jibe.
