Backwind Jibe

Here's how to lift the wing to windward

Here’s another video on the backwind jibe. In it, you’ll see how the wing is lifted to windward and then lowered in front of your body as you steer the board onto the downwind course.

The wing provides thrust, and riding away from the wind reduces the pressure. After the half-jibe, you can pull the wing with the trailing edge through the wind. The wind then flows against the wing from the correct side again.

As you continue turning back to a crosswind course, the pressure of the wind in the wing increases again.
