Tips for fast turning to windward
A slow motion clip for tacking when wing foiling, edited for both riding directions.
The tack is initiated with a turn to windward. When riding upwind, guide the wing one-handed with the front arm past the head to the inside of the turn. Then the second hand grasps the front, the other grasps the back.
Important: lean backwards into the turn. The centrifugal force pushes you onto the board. A correctly guided wing flies stable in the air - you can let yourself be pulled through the rest of the tack after you have changed your grip.
Tip: If your back is leaning backwards too much, try to tighten the turn. This will reduce the radius of the turn and bring the board back under your body.
