Wingfoil Masters Sylt - May 2026
Update 1: Report on days 3 and 4 at Brandenburg Beach - Westerland, Germany
The four-day California Wingfoil Masters on Sylt has come to an end, and results were posted in all three disciplines. The temperatures weren't exactly summery, but there was plenty of wind for the wingfoilers.
Following the freestyle contest on opening day (see report) and too heavy a shorebreak on Friday, which prevented any competitions from taking place, conditions at low tide starting Saturday evening were suitable for the start of the men’s wave contest, which concluded on Sunday with the U15 heats.
In a field of 10 competitors, Klaas Voget (Duotone) won the final against Hubert Christahl (Duotone). Wilhelm Christahl (Duotone) finished third after defeating Jared Wegner (Duotone) in the B final.
There were also 10 competitors in the U15 junior division, where Tebbe Voget (Duotone) took first place ahead of Theo Buchwald (Core) and Jonte Boysen (Duotone). Julian Furkmann (Naish) finished fourth.
On Sunday morning, as the wind died down, the boats were finally able to be launched to set the buoys for the slalom race. Twelve of the 14 registered participants competed in conditions that remained challenging, and three races were completed.
Pit Hausberg (Duotone) was unbeatable, winning the slalom standings on Sylt with three victories, ahead of Jonte Boysen (Duotone) and Emil Schacht (Duotone).
This means that results were recorded in all disciplines at the event on Sylt, and the island is a prime venue for the German Wingfoil Championships in the wave and slalom disciplines, which will be held in early August at the same spot during the next Wingfoil Masters event. The German Freestyle Championships will take place on Fehmarn starting at the end of this week.
