Freestyle action on day two — Hubert Christahl and Theo Buchwald (U15) in the lead
Westerland, July 5, 2026 — On the second day of the Wingfoil Masters on Sylt, the wind blew sideshore from the left at five to six Beaufort. Brandenburger Beach became a freestyle arena, with a total of 18 competitors from the U15 and Men’s age groups (including U17 and U19) taking to the water.
In the U15 boys' division, Theo Buchwald from Fehmarn faced off against Tebbe Voget from Kiel in the final. On his way to the final, Tebbe Voget had first defeated Philip Buchwald and then, in the semifinals, Julian Moritz Furkmann. Theo Buchwald prevailed over Lönne Jensen and Jonte Boysen, thereby securing his spot in the final as well.
In a thrilling matchup, Buchwald prevailed over 11-year-old Tebbe Voget, propelling him to the top of the U15 freestyle standings. In the third-place match, Jonte Boysen defeated Julian Moritz Furkmann, securing third place on the podium.
In the men's division, the final featured a showdown between the two Christahl brothers, Hubert and Wilhelm. On his way to the final, Hubert first defeated Hannes Böhm in the quarterfinals and then Benedikt Hiss in the semifinals. His brother Wilhelm eliminated Jared Wegner in the quarterfinals before defeating Josh Mayer in the semifinals.
In the brothers' showdown, the two Preetzer competitors gave it their all. In the end, Hubert Christahl secured the victory in the combined U17, U19, and Men's division. His brother, Wilhelm Christahl, took second place. Benedikt Hiss won the third-place match against Josh Mayer.
On Thursday, the Wave competition continues, with winds of up to 7 Beaufort expected from the west. Klaas Voget will also be among the 14 competitors vying to defend his German championship title.
