WingFoil Racing World Cup Sardinia 2026
Vaina Picot and Sean Herbert win the Wingfoil Racing World Cup in Sardinia. German wingfoiler Jette Koep takes third place
On Sunday, the Wingfoil Racing World Cup stop in Sardinia came to an end. From September 30 to October 4, Quartu Sant'Elena in Cagliari served as the base for the event.
The wind blew for three days, and things got exciting toward the end. Sixteen women and 61 men competed in the south of the Italian island to share the prize money of 10,000 euros.
Sean Herbert, Alessandro Tomasi, Michele Capitani and Julien Rattotti faced off in the final. Sean Herbert and Alessandro Tomasi carried over their first “bullet” from the preliminary round, but in the final races, the other two also each managed to win once.
This set the stage for a decisive third race to determine the event winner, in which New Zealander Sean Herbert took the lead on the way to the first buoy and never relinquished it. He thus won the men's competition.
In the women’s competition, Vaina Picot, Maddalena Spanu, Jette Koep and Aimilia Kosti advanced to the finals. Vaina Picot led the standings in the qualifying round and went on to win the first final. With this victory, the Frenchwoman claimed her third World Cup win of the season. Second place went to Italy’s Maddalena Spanu, ahead of Germany’s Jette Koep, who earned her first World Cup podium finish.
