Winger of the Sea Kellenhusen 2026
Showdown between Kim Holste and Kjeld Hansen
Last weekend, a combined event for wing foilers and windsurfers took place in Kellenhusen, Germany, with a total of 40 participants. The motto was “A regatta for everyone”, and despite less-than-ideal wind forecasts, 13 participants - including six women and four teenagers - had registered for the “Winger of the Sea” competition.
The wind certainly didn’t make things easy for the race crew, but in the end, four races were held on Saturday. Kim Holste and Kjeld Hansen were locked in a neck-and-neck battle, each winning two races and tying for first place after discarding their worst result.
It was only the tiebreaker rule that tipped the scales in Kim Holste’s favor in the overall standings. Felix Neuling took third place on the podium.
Marleen Fritz delivered the most remarkable performance of the weekend. The young rider from Saxony finished fourth overall, winning both the women’s and U19 classifications. Marisa Roch and Svenja Spitzer joined her on the women’s podium. In the U19 classification, Theo Eichhorst and Leo Neumann took second and third place.
Two more events in the series will take place in Germany this year: the One Hour Edition at Wittensee is scheduled for September 12–13, and one week later, on September 19–20, the Winger of the Sea event will kick off in Flensburg.
